Do you ever get stuck in a rut of just buying something ready made from the shop instead of making it yourself? This is exactly what I have been doing with naan bread! When I found out they were incredibly cheap and easy to make, I haven’t brought any since.
Makes 4- 5
250g plain flour
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp oil, plus a little extra
- Sieve the flour, baking power and sugar into a large bowl. Make a well in the middle, pour in the milk and oil. Mix together until it forms a dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead with your hands for 5 minutes, if the dough is too dry add some water and if it is too wet, add some more flour.
- Oil a bowl, place dough inside and cover with cling film or a tea towel. Put in a warm place for 10 minutes.
- Split dough into 4 or 5 equal balls. Roll them out until they are 0.5cm thin. Cook each side under the grill until they start to puff up and brown.
