We are a family of pizza lovers. The great thing about making it your self is that you know exactly what’s going into it and all the family can get involved preparing it. I normally buy ready made bases to save time but seeing as it’s the weekend I thought I would make the pizza dough myself.
For the base:
The recipe I used is by Jamie Oliver but I left out the caster sugar and semolina. You can find the recipe here: Jamie Oliver Pizza Dough Recipe
For the tomato sauce:
1 tin chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato purée
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
2 tsp mixed herbs
Salt and pepper
Put all ingredients into a blender and mix well. I put the sauce into small pots and freeze them so it saves making it every time.
You can put what ever you like on as a topping, that’s the good thing about making your own. We have even made baked bean pizzas before! Here are some ideas for topping.
Mushrooms, peppers, jalapeños, mozzarella, cheddar, salami, onion tomatoes, pesto, cooked chicken.
