Bakerdays Letterbox Cake Review

As you may or may not know, I am a keen cake maker/eater and a big Star Wars fan. No I’m not jumping on the band wagon, I’m a lifelong fan!

I was recently asked to review one of Baker days letterbox cakes from their Christmas designs. My first thought was that it was a genius idea and why didn’t I think of it! Secondly I thought, how is a cake going to survive the Royal Mail, especially my postman who is a bit heavy handed when it comes to parcels?!

Well, it arrived in perfect condition. It is extremely well packaged without being too excessive. The main box fits perfectly through the postbox and inside was a round, metal tin with a few suprise extras.

When you open the tin, it has some handy tabs to lift the cake out without damaging it which I think is pretty clever! The tin is quite pretty so I’m going to keep it to store my own cakes.

I was pretty impressed with the print quality on the icing. You can chose to personalise the text but my mind went blank and I couldn’t think of anything witty or clever to say (story of my life)!

At first I didn’t think it would be big enough to give the four of us a descent slice each but there was more than enough there was actually some leftover.

The actual cake is far more tastier than any cake I have ever made. I went for vanilla since it will keep everyone happy and I was right. In the words of my daughter, “I love it so much Mum”! It comes in 5 other flavours: chocolate, fruit, half and half, gluten free and dairy free. So there is something for everyone.

My only criticism is that £14.99 isn’t really in my price range but after reviewing one I would say you get your money’s worth, especially with the range of designs and personalisations options.
