Eva’s Yorkshire Puddings

Yorkshire puddings are one of the easiest things to make once you know how. My mum taught me how to make them so I thought it’s about time I show Eva! There is plenty for children to do: weighing/sieving the flour, pouring the milk and, whisking the egg and mixture.

This is the same recipe I use for making pancakes and the batter for toad in the hole.

Two Ingredient Flat Breads

These are great to have with so many different things. We have them to go with curry, for tuna melts, cut up and used for dipping in soups and sauces, and I even put them in packed lunches. The possibilities are endless!

Simple Chilli

Chilli con carne is some thing I remember my mum making for us all when we all lived at home. She even used to make it for me to put in the freezer when I was older. It’s simple comfort food suitable for all members of the family. It’s a simple and easy meal to make mostly with ingredients from the kitchen cupboard. My Food Waste Journey

Did you know that the average household wastes around £470 worth of food and drink every year, even more for families? The most common reasons for throwing out food is that we cook too much or it gets left too long and spoils. As a budget cook, preventing food waste is high on my list of priorities. I go shopping weekly and buy exactly what I need for that week with the help of meal plans and a shopping list. Because I am on such a tight budget, if some thing goes to waste, I don’t have the luxury of buying any thing else. I make sure I eat before I go food shopping so I am not tempted to buy any thing that isn’t on the shopping list. Other wise, I would end up buying junk that just sits in the fridge or cupboard until it starts growing some other kind of life form! The only things I buy that aren’t on my shopping list are £2-5 worth of shopping for the food bank each week. You can also donate any thing in your cupboard which you are unlikely to use that is unused and in date.

Poor man's Wellington or Posh Sausage Roll

Eva loves sausages rolls but you can never tell what actually goes into one that you buy in a supermarket. Home made is always better, you can put any thing you like in your meals.

This is really easy to make especially if you buy ready made puff pastry. You can make your own like, I just didn’t have time.

You can have it hot, cold, as a snack, as part of a meal or for lunch. Don’t worry if your plait isn’t perfect, you don’t even have to plait it at all!
