This week my shopping bill was a little more than last week because I had run out of little things like stock cubes, flour, dried herbs etc. But the weeks meals are all still less than £1 a serving plus we have a couple of new recipes to try.
Cornish Potato Cakes and Salad
I have always loved dumplings but I only ever seem to make them this time of year to go with stews and soups, so I thought I would share with you my recipe for them. I have tried them with both plain and self raising flour, both taste just as nice but I have used self raising in the ones pictured. You can also add herbs to them, I find thyme goes quite well in them for stews!
My favourite thing about Autumn is comfort food. Having the house warm and full of the smell of stew, makes the dark evenings a little less worse! I usually make it during the day and let it simmer on a really low heat so it is ready to serve come dinner time.

These are great to have with so many different things. We have them to go with curry, for tuna melts, cut up and used for dipping in soups and sauces, and I even put them in packed lunches. The possibilities are endless!
These are really quick and easy to make. We have them for lunch or even as a snack. Any leftovers can be eaten cold the next day or even frozen and heated up again for another day.
